Thoughts?

Wow. What do you think? I think Robert Zemekis is a great director, I think Jim Carrey is great in 'certain' roles, annoying in others but to do a re-make of a beloved story that quite frankly has been done too many times already is ridiculous. I love 3D and special effects but I think that I will give it a pass.  I sound like an old scrooge. Bah Humbug no new movies. Bah. I like the old black and white movie. Best version.

Happy Anniversary

You like?

After I finish my knitted aran throw (about half way through) I would really like to attempt this. It looks a bit tricky but lately I am throwing myself in to projects and they are turning out not half as hard as I thought they would be. This is knitted purse that can be striped like above or all one colour. Oooooo Christmas is coming.

Letter from the President

"Oh, you have a letter from the White House" my hubby says to me as he scans through the mail on Friday. He didn't even look up as he holds the letter up in the air for me to grab.

"The White House?" I scream. "For me?" He looks up, blinks and then opens his mouth. Nowwww he gets it. I have a letter from the White House.

"What have you done?" he says in a low whisper.

*snicker* "I wrote a letter to Barack.

"You did? What did you say?"

"It was a letter of encouragement and I outlined my hopes and dreams for what his administration could accomplish while he is our President"

"Look at you" he says proudly. You should frame it"

"Can I put it up by your precious boxing photos?" (knowing the answer but just asking it for fun)

"Okay, now you are going to way too far missy" he laughs.

Check them out

Thank God it is November. Apart from Halloween I dislike it so much. Full of horrible memories that haunt my brain making my life miserable. A new month a new day. I wanted to share with you today a couple of my  favourite blogs that always make me smile, think, not only because they are clever writers but I get the feeling that if I met them somewhere I would instantly like them and get on well with them.

Gal Friday is one of the reasons why I stick with blogging when at times I think about leaving. She shares my love of Gene Wilder and loves Young Frankenstein like I do. Check out her blog and her cool drawings.

David was a blog of note. You know, when you sign into Blogger about half way down there is a tab that says Blogs of Note and I usually forget it is there. Whenever I do click on it I usually am glad that I did. David was the first Blog of Note that I followed. He is a brilliant, thoughtful, hilarious, talented writer and after very post that I read of his, I sit for a while taking in his words and he really has a way of stirring up the old grey matter.

There are many more that I read every single day. I will show you them later this week. For now, I am off to do battle with the customers. Roll on payday.

Sunday Night Happy Makers

Sunday night is usually depressing for me because it reminds me of the Monday grind that is just around the corner. That one hour back is a killer too huh? My child is extremely over-tired and grumpy so she is off the wooden hills to bedfordshire in about 10 nanoseconds. (That will be fun)

I also try to fill my mind on a Sunday night with things that make me happy. Let me share

Alison Moyet is just plain fantastic

I was born in the early 70s so I was a teen when all of the cool 80s stuff was around. Oh, that reminds me, Spandau Ballet are reforming. Who wants to go????? I had a total crush on Gary Kemp which is funny because now the hottie in the group is his brother Martin

We only had about 50 kids this year for Halloween. Believe it or not, that is down about a half so needless to say we have unused candy coming out of our butt. Why am I happy about this...? Because the Pixi Sticks bag is unopened. Mine all Mine!!

Am I the only person on earth who thinks that Sammy Hagar in Van Halen is better than Lee Roth?

Roxy Music makes me very happy

Oh, I forgot to tell you. Thank you all for the votes on what cake to make for my father in law. The basketball jersey cake had the most votes so I will do that one. I really like the teepee cake and I have decided to do that one for Thanksgiving.

What makes you happy on a Sunday night?

Sweets

In England we use the word Sweets for the word Candy. After living in the States for the past two decades, I sometimes forget the words I used as a young  un' .I try and give my daughter a few to use but don't want her to break out into englishisms in the playground and every kid to call her a weirdo or something worse.

I just had a 'we don't have enough candy' freakout. We have sweet tarts (yuck), snickers, (marathons in England), a big bag of Wonka treats and a huge bag of Dots and yet I still don't think that we will have enough. So, I trotted off to Walgreens (two minute walk) and got a big bag Pixi Sticks. Now, I just adore Pixi Sticks which are straws full of powdered candy. I have instructed hubby who is staying at the house to give out treats that he is to leave the Pixi Sticks for last because I would like to eat them all by myself and not give them out to cute kids. :) Hell,if it turns out that I do have  congestive heart failure before I am 40 then I am going to overdose on candy, alcohol and red meat before I have to cut all three out for the rest of my life!! Hubby has outdone himself this year. The decorations look awesome and he is dressing as a dead civil war soldier. I am taking R. out (fairy princess) and I am a Tootsie Roll. Yes, I think that parents who take their kids trick or treating should dress up as well. To my friend Sparkle, a Tootsie Roll is a sweet that is tube shaped. I can't wait until next year when we go back home to England and I can load up on all my old favourite british candy. (Especially mint chocolate Aeros. Sigh)

Happy Halloween to everyone
